We have reason to believe that the damage
done to the East Tennessee {& Virginia} Railroad
is less than was at first reported. The telegraph has already been
repaired, and in use since Monday last. We understand that the
destruction of only one bridge is ascertained here -- that over the
Holston. Travel is resumed. The Transportation Department here have
received advice not to send at present any heavy freight. |
