Serious Accident on the {Richmond
&} Danville Railroad |
The
down train on the Danville Railroad, yesterday afternoon, was thrown
from the track by running over a cow, at Coalfields, about thirteen
miles from the city. Mr. Bowden, of Danville, was killed; also, a
negro brakeman, named Albert. About eight or ten were seriously
wounded – among them, Mr. Vincent Bargamin, a citizen of Richmond.
Several others received slight injuries. Mr. Bowden, who was killed,
was on his way to this city to meet his mother. His head was crushed,
and his death instantaneous. The train with the wounded reached the
depot about half-past eight o’clock last night, but it was
impossible, in the confusion, to obtain full particulars. |
