Distressing Accident |
On Saturday morning last, a
worthy lady of this city, names Mrs. Burke, who had been to the coal
yard for the purpose of making a purchase, met with a distressing
accident at the {Richmond &} Petersburg
depot. The train was coming in, but supposing she could cross the
street without danger, she stepped from the platform, when her shawl
became entangled; and she was thrown down upon the track. The train
passed over one of her arms, crushing it so badly that amputation had
to be resorted to. She was living at last accounts, though it was
considered doubtful whether, at her age, she would survive the shock. |
