Chatham Railroad |
This city by a vote of 154 for, to 70
against subscription, agreed, on Tuesday, to subscribe for $50,000
worth of the Chatham Coalfields Railroad Stock. Owing to the absence
from the city of a good many voters, the vote was a thin one. This
Road when made will be of inestimable value to this city, and to the
State. It will be continued from the Coalfields to Cheraw, and thus
will be obviated the injury which may accrue from the construction of
the Road from Danville to Greensboro {the
Piedmont RR}. |
