| Injury to the Virginia & Tennessee Railroad |
| Lynchburg, Feb. 23 |
| The recent heavy rains have
caused considerable injury to the Virginia & Tennessee railroad. There
is a slide and also a culvert gone near Bristol; a large slide at Seven
Mile Ford; another at Marion; one east of Marion, and the tressle work
is washed away; a slide at Mount Airy; three slides on the Wytheville
section; one on each side of Martin's, and one hundred and fifty feet of
crib work gone; a slide at New river; three on the Alleghany mountains. |
| All the damage will probably
be repaired in three or four days. |
