Blue Mountain & Rome Railroad |
The House bill authorizing the
President to have constructed a railroad, for military purposes, between
Blue Mountain, Alabama, and Rome, Georgia, and appropriating one
million, one hundred and twenty-two thousand and eighty-two dollars and
ninety-two cents for he construction of the same. |
Mr. Clay, of Alabama,
explained the military advantages which would result from the
construction of this road. |
Mr. Oldham objected to the
passage of this bill on general principles, and demanded the ayes and
noes on its passage. The bill was passed, ayes 14, noes 4. |
