Colonel Tate, President of the
Memphis & Charleston Railroad, has just published a card which goes far
to explain the irregularity in the railroad service between this city
and New Orleans. It appears that owing to the want of cars and other
means of transportation East of Chattanooga, goods and stores of all
kinds have been collected at this point to an enormous amount. The
deficiency in means of transport has, no doubt, seriously interfered
with ordinary travel, and perhaps impeded the regular and speedy
transportation of the mail. |
