It is stated that the point for the future
exchange of prisoners in
Virginia
is shortly to be transferred from City Point to Port Walthall, on the Appomattox, or some other place equally as convenient. From Port Walthall, if
that should be the future scene of operation, there is a continuous
line of rail to Richmond
{on the Richmond & Petersburg RR},
the point where the prisoners are all congregated, and independent of
other reasons, the delay and expose attendant upon two roads {the
Richmond & Petersburg RR, then the South Side RR} would be
obviated. |
