We are busy here in scouring the country,
while the militia move away such engines on the Baltimore & Ohio
Railroad as may be deemed valuable to Virginia. Your readers may not
be aware of the fact, that the President of this road holds the
indemnifying bond of the U. S. for all damage which may come to it
while used by the despotism as a military road. Hence, every dollar's
worth of property we can destroy belonging to this road is so much
taken from the pocket of the U. S., if that Government escapes the
wreck towards which it is now hastening long enough to stand a suit
for damages. |
