The Danville Railroad |
A highly respectable
correspondent of Halifax complains that the {Richmond
&} Danville Railroad charges
freight on every box and package contributed for the comfort and aid
of the soldiers, and the sick and wounded. We believe the roads
generally have allowed those gifts of the patriotic and philanthropic
to pass untaxed, and we think very properly. We suppose that the Danville
road, if it has not already done so, will readily conform to a custom
so considerate. There are none more true to the cause than the entire
company — officers, stockholders and all. |
