Accident |
An accident occurred at the
Depot of the Virginia Central Railroad,
yesterday, about 3 o'clock, which will probably result in the death of
Mr. Henry Arnall, firemen on the yard engine. The engineer at the time
was switching cars, and Mr. Arnall attempted to get on the engine, but
missed the step and was caught by the wheel of the tender which drew
him under it, and the wheels on one side of it passed over his left
knee and left hand. The flesh was torn from the knee to the thigh,
leaving the bone perfectly naked. It was purely an accident, and blame
can be attached to no one. The engine at the time was moving very
slow. Medical aid was at once called in, but the shock to the system
was so severe that nothing could be done to relieve the unfortunate
man. |
