Eleventh Regiment N. C. Volunteers |
This Regiment lately arrived here, but is
not at present in Richmond. Old Mexican Volunteers, who have inspected this command, speak of it
as formed of the best material. The men composing it were armed and
equipped "according to law" -- that is, in the best possible
manner. |
The rear train of the two conveying the
regiment ran into the forward train Tuesday night, at Beaver Dam
Depot, wounding four persons. The dispatch received from Mr. Fontaine,
President of the {Virginia} Central road,
at two P. M. yesterday, states that three of them — John C. Royal,
D. A. Vestal and John B. Howell — are only bruised. They are walking
about, and may be able to travel on the cars to-day. The only other
who was hurt (W. D. Harrison) is suffering from a strain of his back,
but is improving. They are all of the 11th N. C. Regiment, (Capt.
Connelly's company.) They shall be well cared for, and if not detained
to wait for
Harrison
, the others will be fit for service in a few days. It is not thought
that
Harrison
's case is at all dangerous. |
