Probable fatal Casualty |
One of the Greenville Guards, from Greenville,
Ala., received a very serious, if not fatal, injury while on the train
this morning. He was in the hindmost car,
and the train was in motion about a mile from La Grange,
{Atlanta & West Point RR} near the water-tank. He had his head and part of his body out of the
window, and was waving his handkerchief to some ladies, when his head,
just above and behind the ear, struck the pipe of the tank, fracturing
the skull. He was brought to Newman, and left there in charge of
physicians. The wound is a dangerous one, and it is probable that by
this time he is dead. We did not learn his name. |
