Fatal Railroad accident |
A terrible accident occurred
Wednesdaymorning, near Memphis, on the Mississippi {&
Tennessee} Railroad. While turning a curve, a passenger car
was thrown from the track, dragged some distance, and capsized. |
Mrs. John Grider, who had been thrown
partly out of the window, was instantly killed. Her husband, who was
with her, had his hip broken, and his brother, Mr. W. H. Grider, had
his collar bone broken. |
Mr. Gillard and wife, Mr. Cole, R. H.
Vance, Esq., Lieut. Welsh of the Tennessee Rangers, Mr. Jeffries of
St. Aubin, Miss., W. G. Moore, and Sergeant Davidson, were all more or
less injured. Mrs. Gillard and Mr. Jeffries were severely though not
dangerously hurt. |
