Shocking accident |
About one o'clock Saturday
evening an accident occurred on Broad street, between 6th and 7th streets, by which a boy named Joseph Rowe was
instantly killed. The boy attempted to jump on a train of cars which
were in motion for the purpose of getting a ride, when he fell on the
track, the cars passing over his head and severing it from the body at
the mouth. He died instantly, and, with the consent of Mr. Thomas
Jones, formerly of Fredericksburg, with whom he was living, was buried at the expense of the
Fredericksburg Railroad Company {Richmond,
Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}. The
deceased was the son of a poor widow of Fredericksburg, and was living here with Mr. Jones, who had adopted him. He was
about fifteen years of age. |
