Railroad accident |
The down train on the {Virginia}
Central railroad, due Feb'y 17th,
had a wheel of one of the cars broken when near Anderson's turn out,
30 miles from Richmond, by which accident three of the Orange &
Alexandria railroad cars were thrown
across the track. The down mail and other trains running by that point
were delayed twenty-four hours. The mail train due in this city at 15
minutes past 6 o'clock Tuesday evening, did not arrive until 7 o'clock
last evening. Passengers on the up mail train yesterday morning were
taken from the vicinity of the accident by the down train and conveyed
up the road, thus making the connection complete. The cars that piled
themselves across the track were smashed up, but luckily no body was
hurt. |
