Bill Introduced |
A bill providing for the more effectual
and speedy transportation of freight and travel between Richmond
and Petersburg. |
The Salt Committee introduced a preamble
and resolution in relation to the supply of salt to be obtained from
the salines of Washington and Smyth counties citing the inadequacy of
the machinery and transportation as furnished by the testimony of the
officers of the Virginia & Tennessee Railroad,
and the impossibility of supplying it without the detail of a
sufficient number of hands by the Confederate Government for their
workshops and for preparing lumber; and suggesting a committee of
three on the part of the House and two on the part of the Senate to
confer with the Confederate Government on the matter. The resolution
was laid over under the rules. |
