| ***** The Council then proceeded to the
election of Chamberlain, from the following list of candidates: |
| Richard Hill, Jr., C. Walthall, A. W. Morton, E. S.
McCarthy, and P. W. Ralston |
| On the second ballot, Mr. Morton received
a majority of the votes, and was declared elected. Mr. M. was for many
years a clerk in the office of the Public Auditor, and is at present the
efficient Secretary of the Richmond & York River Railroad Company. ***** |
