The Georgia railroad |
The track of this road not as
badly damaged as at first reported. From Stone
Mountain {8 miles} to Lithonia the
road is in good running order, (says the Augusta Chronicle,) with the
exception of one mile, which General Slocum's destroyed, after leaving
the main army, in route for the east side of Yellow river. From
to Alcova bridge {between Covington and
Social Circle} the road is completely. From the Alcova down
to Oconee
{about 40 miles} it is tapped occasionally, and can be easily repaired. |
