An effort will be made to connect the
several railroads, ending at this place, by permanent tracks. A bill
has been introduced into both branches of the General Assembly having
for its object the uniting, not only of the railroads here, but those
in Petersburg. In the latter city some opposition has been manifested
to the measure, but not sufficient to delay it as one of great public
necessity. The friends of the bill have stated various and weighty
reasons why it should pass. |
