The Secession Rebellion ***** |
|
Special Dispatch From Washington |
|
Washington, Thursday, June 6 |
A gentleman, who has just returned from
Knoxville, 4 miles from Harper's Ferry, gives me some particulars of
the movements of the rebels in that vicinity. |
***** |
The main forces are at Bolivar, a place
about a mile south of the Harper's Ferry Railroad bridge. They appear
to be strengthening their line from Bolivar to Winchester, as if
preparing for a retreat in that direction. |
On Monday a squad went to
Williamsport, and obtained possession of thirteen locomotive engines,
which they run down to the Ferry and switched off on the Winchester {&
Potomac} Railroad. They also scoured the country, and pressed
into their service about one hundred large four-horse wagons, such as
are used in that section of the country for the transportation of
goods. |
