Great Destruction of Property By the Rebels |
|
Baltimore, Monday, June 24, 1861 |
The agent of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at
Martinsburgh, arrived this evening. He reports a great destruction of
the property of the Company there by the rebels. Forty-eight
locomotives, large numbers of gondola and coal cars were surrounded
with piles of wood which were fired. All the perishable portions were
consumed, and the iron damaged, perhaps, beyond repair. |
