| Mobile & Great Northern Railroad |
| The Mobile Register has the
following: |
| In consequence of the
blockade, the directors of this road, finding that they would not be
able to rely upon obtaining the iron ordered from England for its
completion, have determined to purchase the rails in this country.
Indeed they have already contracted for a considerable amount in New
Orleans, most of which has come to hand. |
| We are glad to learn that the
rest can be had either at New Orleans or Charleston, and that Mr.
Lincoln's big ships outside the Mobile bar cannot prevent the completion
of this important work. We have learned with pleasure that despite the
difficulties in money matters, the Directors are pushing the work to
completion with untiring energy, and al that is wanted to ensure it is
that the stockholders should sustain them with a like firmness of
purpose and promptly pay up small balances yet due on their
subscriptions. |
