| Texas Wheat Crop |
| The Shreveport Gazette, of the
30th ult., says: |
| We learn from persons directly
fro the prairies of Texas that the wheat crop was never better. A large
crop was sown, and the wheat is now almost matured. As soon as our
railroad {Vicksburg, Shreveport & Texas RR}
is completed, large flour mils will be erected in Shreveport, and a
market created for all the grain of that magnificent country. |
| It is most fortunate that the
planters in Northern Texas will make large grain crops this year. The
scarcity of provisions in the cotton region will open a fine market for
flour. The current of trade will be changed, and Texas flour will be
sold this summer to the citizens of Shreveport. |
