The New Orleans & Texas Railroad |
The election of directors for
the New Orleans & Texas Railroad Company took place in Parlor P,
St. Charles Hotel, last night, and resulted in the selection of the
following gentlemen: L. F. Generes, I. H. Stauffer, John Q. Adams, A.
M. Gentry, B. J. Sage, James J. Hanna, C. M. Congreve. |
These gentlemen are pledged to
do their utmost to furnish the country with this great military need
in the shortest possible time, and it only remains for the capitalists
of the country to do their duty in order that the work may be speedily
completed. The planters will be called upon, we understand, to
contribute their labor, and others, whatever aid they can give in the
shape of materials, provisions, &c. In short, this must be a joint
effort of the people to give us this great military and commercial
blessing, more needed at this juncture than any other connected with
our city, this State, Texas or the Southwest. |
