New Orleans & Texas Railroad Company |
A few weeks ago we offered
some remarks on the abounding advantages that would enure not only to
our own city and State, but to all those of the Confederate States
that lie upon the gulf and the Mississippi, from the extension and
completion of the projected railroads connecting, and that are to
connect, Texas with Louisiana. In another column, to day, will be
found a letter, signed "B. J. S.," which will be read, we
know, with satisfaction by all who are in favor of opening the rich
resources of Texas to her sister States of the Confederacy. This is a
work that imperatively demands the concurrence of our capitalists,
and, we doubt not, will receive it. In a few years, when this
enterprise is successful, the wonder with all will be how its
completion should ever have been so long delayed. |
