Condition of our Railroads
The meeting of several of railroad Presidents of Virginia and North Carolina was lately held at Richmond, the object of which was to inquire into the condition of the several roads, to ascertain their wants in regard to rolling stock, iron &c., and the best method of supplying the roads with the necessary means of performing the immense labor now thrown upon them. A resolution was passed advising a transfer of the effects of that part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, under the control of the Southern Confederacy, to the roads of the South. Besides this, they agreed upon some plan for the establishment of rolling mills, &c.
