| Malicious Accusation |
| Night before last, Mr. George
W. Bradley was arrested by the Chief of Police, on the strength of the
following dispatch: |
| Grand Junction, May 3, 1861 |
| To Chief of Police, New Orleans |
| Take up one George W. Bradley,
late agent for Mississippi Central Railroad, and send to Vigilance
Committee, at this place. He is a Federal spy. |
| R. M. Crow |
| J. M. Roberts |
| T. J. Fowler |
| J. W. Morris |
| Yesterday morning Bradley was
taken before the Mayor. Numerous gentlemen vouched for his sympathy with
and fidelity to the South. Mr. Bradley asserted that the dispatch was
sent in pure malice, the men signing it being interested in an
opposition railroad -- the Memphis road {composed
of the Memphis & Ohio, the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville and the
Louisville & Nashville RRs} . The Mayor gave him an honorable
discharge. |
