| On Thursday morning last, a
young man of this place named William Willis was run over by an engine
and tender, on the Winchester & Potomac Rail-road, about a quarter
of a mile south of Stephenson's depot. Both legs were horribly
mangled, causing death two hours after the accident. He jumped from
the train -- an extra one, which had followed the passenger train that
morning -- and was chasing a squirrel across the track, when the
engine struck him. His age was about 18 years. |
