The annual meeting of the
Stockholders of the Winchester & Potomac Railroad Company, was held in
Winchester, on Saturday last. The condition and prospects of the road
were represented as favorable, compared with former years, and the crop
prospects in the Valley, coupled with a variety of other reasons give
reasonable cause for the hope that the road will soon emerge from the
temporary gloom which has surrounded it. An election for President and
Directors was held, with the following result: President, Wm. L. Clark,
Esq., whose salary is continued at $1,000; Stockholder, Directors: Geo.
W. Ginn, W. B. Baker, Robery Y. Conrad, and O. M. Brown; State
Directors: Andrew Hunter, Dr. O. R. Funsten, and Dr. Daniel Conrad. The
Stockholders have displayed a wise discrimination in continuing Mr.
Clark in the position of President, as he fills the office with ability,
and entire acceptability to the traveling community. Rep. |
