Southern Pacific Rail Road |
The work on the Southern Pacific Railroad
continues in rapid progress, not withstanding the hard times and the
uncertainty of political affairs. The subcontractors report good
progress. About 500 sacks of corn, 25 or 30 barrels of pickel pork,
and other provisions, have arrived for the hands and are ready for
distribution. Col. Halman left here last week, intending to send
$2,000 worth of provisions from Shreveport, and a larger amount after
he reaches the City. |
