Eastern Texas Railroad |
Mr. Jason Muckleroy, writing
us from Sabine Pass, on the 25th inst., says that twenty-four miles of
the Eastern Texas are now completed. It is doubtless now finished to
Beaumont. The company have iron and ties enough to complete fifteen
miles more, and as there are fifty-two miles of the road graded, it is
to hoped that all the iron on hand will be exhausted before the work
ceases. The people of eastern Texas are determined this road shall be
completed, and though the war excitement may retard its progress
greatly, the enterprise will not be abandoned until it penetrates the
northern counties of our State. Much has already been accomplished,
and much more can and will be. |
