Our Railroad |
The cars are now running to
Quebec on Bayou Tensas, within thirty miles of Vicksburg, and the
company {Vicksburg, Shreveport & Texas RR}
are still repairing the track further into the swamp. |
Our Government should assist
the company by transferring the appropriation of fifteen hundred
thousand dollars from the Opelousas road to this and have it graded from
Monroe to Shreveport. The surplus negro labor in North Louisiana can
accomplish the work in less than six months. |
