Accident on the {Virginia} Central
Railroad
|
On Wednesday, the down passenger train on the Central
railroad met with an accident two or three miles below
Charlottesville. The accident was caused by the breaking of an axle of
the ladies' car, which was in the rear train. The car was thrown down
an embankment, overturned and badly broken. Several lady passengers in
the car were severely injured, though not dangerously, and one man
killed outright, his head being literally mashed into a jelly by the
car falling upon him.
