The Health of the Army
|
The general health of the Army of Northern Virginia, at
this time and for the last three months, has been of a strikingly
encouraging character. Not at any time during the entire winter, has a
sick train been run on the {Virginia} Central
railroad. During last summer and the previous two winters and summer,
an ambulance train on that road was a regular institution, and had
plenty to do every trip. The field hospitals, and the few others near
the army, are now sufficient to accommodate nearly if not quite all of
the sick in Lee's army.
