Fatal Accident |
The Lynchburg Republican says that, on Friday last, a
soldier belonging to the 14th Georgia Regiment, was killed at
Gordonsville, by he Central cars running over him. He was attempting
to cross the track, and in stepping from the platform of the depot
to the road, his foot became entangled in some way, and he fell.
Before he could recover himself the cars were upon him, crushing and
mangling him in a horrible manner. The unfortunate deceased had been
in a Richmond Hospital for some time, but had been discharged, and
was on his return to his Regiment, with high hopes of serving his
country usefully, when death in its most instantaneous form numbered
him among its victims. |
