| The New Orleans papers inform
us that two gunboats belonging to the federal fleet, had approached
Proctorville, at the terminus of the lake Borgue railroad
{Mexican Gulf RR} and exchanged a few
shots, evidently with the intention of ascertaining the range of the
Confederate guns at that place. |
