Executive Appointment |
Col. John S Rowland, of Cass
county, has been appointed by His Excellency Gov. Brown,
Superintendent of the Western Atlantic Railroad, vice Dr. J. W.
Lewis, resigned. |
While the State Road has lost
the services of its late efficient Superintendent, who, we learn, has
the superintendency of the East Tennessee & Georgia Railroad, we
are pleased to see that the Governor has appointed, in his successor,
a gentleman who life has been one of untiring industry, and whose
capability and honesty, none who know him, and have a correct
understanding of the wants of the Road, will question. |
That same regard to economy,
and to the faithful performance of duty on the part of the
subordinates of the Road, which characterized its administration the
last four years, will, we predict with confidence, signalize Col.
Rowland's. Of one thing, the people may be assured, that what ever the
Road makes will find its way into the State Treasury; and that every
attention to the condition of the Road will be given, in order
that it may convey passengers and freight to the fullest extent of its
power. |
Col. Rowland has complied with
all the requisites of the law, as to bond, security, &c., and
having taken the oath of office, has commenced the discharge of his
duties. |
