Fire |
Late Saturday evening, as the
Atlanta & West Point Railroad freight train with a number of
soldiers on board arrived at the crossing of Peters' street, the
hindmost box car was discovered to be on fire from the burning of a
journal. It was speedily cut loose, and the train proceeded to its
destination. The car was filled with about $6,000 worth of soldiers
clothing, all of which was destroyed. Owing to some misunderstanding
the fire companies did not arrive in time to do all the good they
could. The Hook & Ladder did good work in saving the railroad
track. |
