| A letter from Harper's Ferry
says: "The Confederates had constructed a bridge from the main
land to Herr's Island, in the Shenandoah, and brought off a
locomotive, which they had previously disabled, and conveyed it to
Winchester. The Confederates had considerably augmented their force at
Martinsburg." |
