The Railroad |
The damage done the Richmond & Danville Railroad by the
enemy cannot be fully repaired, we learn, within less than four weeks.
Communication by telegraph will probably be resumed in a day or two. We
understand that a number of government wagons will be sent to transport
supplies for the army over the gap made in the road, until the track can
be relaid. |
We hope that some arrangement will be speedily made to
carry the mails across the gap, as we have to rely for the present, for
our news, entirely upon our Southern exchanges. A large number of hands
are employed in repairing the road. |
