The Wounded in the Late Battles |
We have been enabled to ascertain the exact number of
our men who were wounded in the last battles about Fredericksburg. They
amount to six thousand one hundred and thirty-eight. Six thousand one
hundred have been brought by railroad to this city
{mostly, if not totally, on the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}.
The balance remain in hospital near the battle field. Of those who have
been brought hither, the wounds of two thousand are very slight -- only
sufficient in the majority of cases to enable the sufferers to obtain
furloughs. |
