The Legislature and Railroads |
The following are the captions
and leading features of the acts passed by the Legislature on the
subject of railroads: |
An act authorizing the
connection of Houston, Trinity & Tyler railroad with Galveston
road, at a point between Houston and Harrisburg. |
An act to allow the Houston
Tap & Brazoria railroad company till January 1st, 1863, to
complete their road to the Colorado river. |
An act to allow the Mexican
Gulf and San Antonio railroad {the San Antonio
& Mexican Gulf RR} company till January 1st, 1863, to
complete their second section. |
An act requiring the Columbus,
San Antonio & Rio Grande railroad company to commence work within
two years, and to complete fifty miles of their road every two years
thereafter. |
An act requiring the Air Line
company to commence work on their road within six months, and to
complete twenty-five miles of said road previous to December 30, 1863,
otherwise, to forfeit charter. |
A resolution recognizing the
importance of the completion of the New Orleans and Houston Texas
railroad as a matter of defense to the South, and calling the
attention of the Louisiana Legislature to the liberality of Texas
towards said road. {The road that needed
construction was the New Orleans & Texas RR.} |
