The Legislature is still in
session, and appears to have a large amount of unfinished business
under consideration. As yet but few bill of importance have become
laws. Among the matters acted on we observe the following |
Mr. Stockdalde, from the
Committee on Internal Improvements, reported favorably to a bill to
incorporate the Galveston & Houston Junction Railroad Company. |
***** |
An act for the relief of
Railroad companies had been passed. It provides that that portion of
the Memphis, El Paso & Pacific Railroad between the city of
Jefferson, in the county of Marion, and Morris' Landing, on sulphur
fork of Red River, be entitled to receive certificates for land,
whenever five miles are finished, for each mile thereof, ten
certificates for land of six hundred and forty acres each, provided,
that the provisions of this act shall apply and issue to the benefit
of all the Railroads in this State, for the distance of forty-five
miles, now organized and having an existing bona fide contract
for the construction of not less than ten miles. |
