Railroads Damaged |
Last Saturday a span of a bridge near Murfreesboro
{probably on Nashville & Chattanooga RR}
gave way as a train was passing over, dropping two box cars,
one filled with ladies and the other with soldiers, into the water.
Two soldiers, we are informed, were killed. The pier had been
undermined by the high water. |
On our own road, about the same time, a slide went in at
or near Brighton, which, with the bridge that was swept away from
Bean's Creek, near Salem, a few days before, has completely
blockaded us. |
