The Railroad Accident |
The report of a
collision on the Mobile & Ohio Railroad, which was in circulation
yesterday, originated in a car of the (up?) passenger train running off
the track on Saturday {July 6?}, somewhere
in the neighborhood of Jackson. Only two persons were hurt -- Maj.
Fleming {Superintendent, Mobile & Ohio RR},
rather badly, but not seriously bruise, and a lady more slightly
injured. Maj. Fleming's injury was owing to the fact that, perceiving
hat the train required checking, he had risen to pull the bell rope, and
was standing unsupported when the car turned over. None of the
passengers who kept their seats were injured. The place where the
accident occurred is above Jackson, and supposed to be the same as the
scene of the late collision, which possibly did some damage to the track
that was not immediately developed. |
