Railroad Accident |
We are pained to record a
distressing rail road accident which occurred yesterday, on the Macon &
Western Road near Barnesville. A freight train coming up and a large
train of wounded from the battlefield of Wednesday ran together, and we
are informed that not less than twenty were killed. Of the number of
wounded we have no account. |
There is certainly a very
fearful responsibility resting upon some one for this terrible and
unnecessary calamity. It is bad enough to have our brave soldiers
mangled by the enemy; but it is outrageous, after they are so wounded
and are suffering from their wounds, that they should be crushed and
ground to powder by railroad officials. |
