| A Losing Game |
| The Northern holders of the
Mississippi Central Railroad bonds did not make anything, but on the
contrary, it appears, were losers by the arrest of Col. Walter Goodman,
President of that road, in New York. He addressed the citizens of
Grenada, Miss., on the night of the 14th inst. The Rural Gentleman
says: |
| He gave, as we learn, an
interesting account of his arrest in New York as a spy, his being taken
before Gen. Wool, the overhauling of his baggage, his release, the
watchings of the enemy after his release, and his return with the money
he had taken with him to pay the bonds of his road. |
