The Memphis Appeal says: |
"Arkansas Produce |
During the month ending Tuesday last, the ferry-boat
Mark R. Cheek brought over to this city, as entered on the books of the
Merchants' Exchange, 1,000 head of cattle, 200 sheep, 50 hogs, 200 sacks
of potatoes and 25 sacks of onions. Receipts for the month ending
yesterday by the {Memphis &} Little Rock
railroad were, 200 cattle, 100 sheep, 25 hogs, 250 sacks of potatoes and
25 sacks of onions." |
The railroad from here to White river will be completed
this fall at the rate they are now progresing. Finding it difficult to
bring iron up the Arkansas river, they have taken it up White river, and
commenced laying the track from that end. Some 15 or 20 miles are
completed and they are gradually approaching the Arkansas shore. When
this branch of the road is completed, we hope some of this trade will
reach our city, and beeves, sheep, etc., be plentiful and cheap. |
