From Harper's Ferry |
A correspondent of the Baltimore American, who visited
Harper's Ferry as a States rights South Carolina, writes that journal an
account of his experiences. We make a few extracts: |
***** |
On Saturday morning sixty-three additional beeves and
about twenty barrels of butter, eggs, etc., were seized at Harper's
Ferry. They all belonged to parties in Ohio, and were on the way to
Washington, it is supposed. There is, however, some apprehension in the
matter, and I learn that the Baltimore & Ohio railroad company have
dispatched their counselor, C. J. M. Gwin, esq., to consult with Colonel
Jackson, commander of the forces at Harper's Ferry, in reference to the
matter of the seizure. |
